An Immersive College Prep Company & Training Program for Ages 12 to 18

LEVERAGEdance provides a professional learning environment for aspiring pre-professional dancers. In residence at OC Music & Dance in Irvine, California, the repertory-based dance company and training program for ages 12 to 18 challenges dancers to find an enhanced kinetic understanding of the body while further developing creativity and artistic depth during weekly training, rehearsal, and performances.

Ages 14-18

Dancers entering grades 9 through 12 are eligible to apply for Leverage Dance's core performance company.

Ages 12-14

Dancers entering grades 7 and 8 are eligible to apply for Leverage Dance Junior.

Mentorship by Expert Faculty

Dancers receive guidance and support in acheiving their goals from a team of seasoned and caring faculty with expert knowledge and professional experience.


High-Caliber Training

In addition to rigorous technique classes, curriculum dives deep into movement education (anatomy and kinesiology), somatics systems (Pilates, yoga), cross-training, mindset training, goal setting and more.

Performance Opportunities

Core program faculty and notable guest artists curate a broad range of choreographic works featured in biannual repertory concerts equipping students with field experience in dance performance.

Season Duration

The company runs on an academic year (September through June). Membership is by annual audition typically held in mid-June of the previous season. Upcoming auditions will be listed here.

Dancer Requirements

Interested dancers must be entering 7th through 12th grade for the upcoming academic year, training and performing at an advanced level, and should exhibit a sense of personal responsibility, commitment to growth, and a passion for the art of dance.

Available Tracks

LEVERAGEdance offers two unique tracks for participation:

PREMIER PERFORMANCE TRACK (8+ hours weekly)
Mondays & Wednesdays | 5:30pm - 8:30pm
Fridays | 4:00pm - 6:00pm

The Premier Performance Track includes:

  • 8 hours of rigorous technique training, study, and mentorship

  • Participation in the LEVERAGEdance repertory company with bi-annual repertory concerts in the OCMD Black Box Theater and in local festivals

  • A 2-minute solo choreography package (Includes 5 hours of private instruction)

  • A professional photo shoot (Includes 2 digital images with option to purchase additional images)

LITE TRAINING TRACK (6 hours weekly)
Mondays & Wednesdays | 5:30pm - 8:30pm

The Lite Training Track includes:

    • 6 hours of rigorous technique training, study, and mentorship

    • A professional photo shoot (With option to purchase digital images)

* Financial assistance for premier track participation may be available to qualified dancers who have been admitted to the program. Eligibility and award amounts are based on financial need, family size, and extenuating circumstances. For returning dancers, dedication and commitment are also deciding factors in determining eligibility.

Weekly Schedule

Premiere Performance company members participate in the full schedule outlined below. Lite Training track dancers participate on Mondays and Wednesdays only. Regular attendance is required to maintain company membership.

The History of LEVERAGEdance

Since its founding in 2009, LEVERAGEdance has been preparing developing dancers for successful careers in dance and related career paths. Previous company dancers can be seen in music videos, television commercials, and films; performing live on stage with Cirque Du Soleil, Holland America, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Disney Cruise Lines, and Disneyland Resorts; and guiding the next generation of dancers as educators, choreographers, and movement specialists. Dancers have attended and studied dance at Boston Conservatory, SUNY Purchase, Chapman University, LINES Ballet/Dominican University of California, Loyola Marymount, Cornish College of the Arts, UC Irvine, CSU Long Beach, CSU Fullerton, and University of Nevada Las Vegas.

Season performances have included benefit events, Studio A Dance!'s DanceSpot, Pasadena Dance Festival, MixMatch Dance Festival, Dance Discovery Foundation's Collision:Dance, Backhausdance's Platform and the company's self-produced annual repertory concert The Junction.

Notable guest choreographers have included Jennifer Backhaus (Backhausdance), Zak Ryan Schlegel (Shen Wei Dance Arts, AXIOM Dance Theatre), Omar Olivas (Diavolo, Backhausdance), Jennifer Huffman (Diavolo, LehrerDance), Blythe Barton (San Diego Dance Theater, Malashock Dance), Tawny Chapman (Backhausdance), among others.
